Your point of view is the map you use to get your customer or student from one island to the other.

It’s the compass you use.

It’s the route you plot.

These three things: map, compass, route.

The clearer your perspective, the more potent your marketing will be to attract your ideal clients. It also works wonders in actively repelling the people who aren’t a good fit for you.

A clear point of view will enable you to feel more confident in your business and craft better offers for your clients.

A clear point of view is the basis for every piece of content you will ever create.

But a clear point of view doesn’t just happen.

Join us in episode 14, with our special guest, Tad Hargrave as we help you YOU get clear on your unique POV and how to use your POV to market your work effectively.

Download, listen and read the show notes below…

The Route, the Compass and the Map:

  • The route – progression – this, then this, then that. formulas, templates, series of steps to get where you want to go. Best fighting chance (no guarantee) – top of pyramid
  • The compass – sense of direction. Values, beliefs.. no progression. Things to keep in mind through journey. Top 10 principles/ideas
  • The map – understanding of the world. The overall system. Biggest container

“You need to have a system to capture your ideas.” – Tad Hargrave

Exercise to Get the Process Started:

1. Figure out what your route is (the journey). What are the 3-7 steps to make that journey?

2. What are your top 10 principles, premises or ideas that your work revolves around?

3. Create a POV page on your site that shares your Point of View.

What do you believe, value and stand for?

“If you want to articulate what you do better, just start writing. The more you write about and talk about what you do and how you do it, the better you’ll become at articulating it.” – Tad Hargrave

Resources Worth Checking out:

1. Tad’s website, www.MarketingForHippies.com (definitely get on his list and check out his blog)!

SHOW NOTES:

TWEETABLE: You don’t pick the topic. The topic picks you!

1. The Two Pillars for Choosing a Great eCourse Topic:

  1. PASSION
    a) What are you crazy passionate about? (make a list)
    b) What thing do you feel OBLIGATED to teach or share? (write it down)
    c) What topic could you talk about all day, whether you were being paid or not?Life is too short to do something you don’t enjoy or to pursue something JUST for the money.
  2. VALIDATION:
    a) Have conversations with your customers or audience before building it (make sure they want it).
    b) Do an internal beta / pre-Launch to your email list at a special price to see that people are willing to pay for it.
    c) Look around and see what other courses like your idea are out there. How could you do it better/different?

2. Journaling Exercises:

  1. What are you constantly teaching or showing people?
  2. What homework do you constantly assign clients?
  3. What are you naturally great at or what do you love doing?
  4. In five years, what do you want to be known for?
  5. What is something you enjoy teaching, and would love to become masterful and well-known at?
(teach what you want/need to learn)
  6. Do you teach a workshop or guide the same coaching process all the time?
What kind of course could you create that helps people to integrate the workshop teachings into their daily life?
  7. What content have you already created (blogs, videos, articles, workbooks, eBooks, etc..)?
How could you up-cycle that content into an eLearning process?

3. Decide on an Idea:

We go deep into this exercise in the Great eCourse Adventure, and in today’s episode we talk about how to choose your best idea if you have several rolling around in your mind. Below is our decision maker matrix PDF. The exercise is simple and powerful.

Download the “Decision Maker 3000” to help you narrow in on your idea.

Ep.3 – eCourse Creation Tech Demystified https://enjoy.thegreatecourseadventure.com/ecourse-adventures-live-ep-3-ecourse-creation-tech-demystified/ https://enjoy.thegreatecourseadventure.com/ecourse-adventures-live-ep-3-ecourse-creation-tech-demystified/#respond Thu, 15 Sep 2016 04:06:34 +0000 http://enjoy.thegreatecourseadventure.com/?p=1123 There are a plethora of apps, plugins and platforms available for course creators to get their work online. It’s never been easier to build a course… and it’s never been more confusing to decide which technologies to use.

Join Bradley & Andy as they demystify the tech side of things and provide a simple framework for picking the best tech for you.

Watch, listen and check out the show notes below…

Show Notes and Resources:

By popular request, we dove into the wild, wonderful, sometimes anxiety-causing world of eCourse tech.

Fortunately, we had a Master ZenTeach (AKA: Andy Freist) in the house who helped to break down the best approach for choosing your tech. Once you know what you need, you can choose amongst our top recommended resources (see list below).

Ultimately, the top takeaway after watching/listening to this episode is to NOT overthink the tech side.

Know what you want. Decide on a path and then focus all your energy into creating the best damn eCourse and student experience you can possibly imagine (that’s where we come in).

That’s the name of the game.

We are blessed to live in a time when there are so many fabulous options on the tech front. Even I (Brad) can learn it, which means you can too!

Enjoy today’s episode and leave your comments or questions below.
