Fortunately, Tad Hargrave (one of the nicest guys in the Universe) led us through an interactive Niching workshop this week.

When it comes to niching, Tad has a simple, formulaic, down to Earth process for finding yours’. So if you’re struggling with your WHO, take 90 some time and sit with a journal.

There is so much gold to be mined from this workshop.

Session Notes

2:40 introducing Tad Hargrave niching expert: To help you get clarity and get unstuck.

6:10 The emotional journey of discovering your niche. Fist comes the fear of shrinking your market too much, and then the relief when you know you got it right.

12:30 Finding your who: I help…types of people, who have this …problem get this …result.

15:30 Getting your niche right is the key to powerful headlines and titles. Making the sales letter is simply making a case for it.

18:40 Be specific. Add 3 top benefits or fears if your words could mean something different to different people. The confused mind says no. Help them know immediately that it’s for them.

27:51 The power of asking “when is the perfect moment for you to show up in  your client’s life”.

29:26 A great example that demonstrates how to be more clear.

31:10 A real life example of using the 3 examples to make your statement crystal clear. And have your prospect immediately know if you are talking to them or not.

32:54 Clarity vs brevity. If the core idea is clear talking more about it will only make it more clear. If the core idea is fuzzy the more you talk the more unclear it gets.

38:55 There are things your customer wants, and there are things you want for them. Talk about what they already want.

42:30 How to use a Facebook ad to test what they want.

49:18 Beware of talking about things like spirituality. It can mean many different things for people so make sure to talk about what they are actually getting.

50:53 What are the symptoms people are having? Speak to that, and not some broad concept.

55:49 An example of niching down to make your communication more powerful, and own that specific domain.

1:00:20 How to offer content that is more valuable than the free stuff they can find on youtube. Focus on the specific problem and the result they want. You are helping them on their journey.

1:05:30 A look at the “pay what you can” model.

1:08:20 An important distinction: Are you talking to different people or the same person at a different point on their journey?

Script Writing 101 for Course Creators and Media Makers https://enjoy.thegreatecourseadventure.com/script-writing-101/ https://enjoy.thegreatecourseadventure.com/script-writing-101/#respond Tue, 13 Mar 2018 19:45:32 +0000 https://enjoy.thegreatecourseadventure.com/?p=2603 In our early days of building The Great eCourse Adventure, we would create a rough outline with the main points we wanted to cover in each lesson, and then we’d improvise from there.

It worked all right, but we knew we could do better.

After experimenting with writing a script for a couple of our more complex scenes (aka Lessons), we realized that the scripts were our golden ticket to:

  • creating better, more engaging, effective lessons
  • adding in more special effects in post production
  • saving ridiculous amounts of time on production day and with post production editing

Script writing added a whole new dimension of creativity and fun to the process of building the greatest eCourses we could possibly imagine.

And if you’re a student of ours, then you can attest, that the further along in our course you get, the better, more exciting, creative and fun the lessons become.

Our goal is to help you create the greatest learning experiences you can and script-writing will help a lot!

I created this presentation to show you our exact script writing work flow when building courses and lessons. If you follow along, you’ll save tons of time and create way better, more imaginative eCourses.

And as a member of the GEA, you can join our monthly challenges where we motivate you to move forward with momentum.

Are you a Course Creator or Media Company? https://enjoy.thegreatecourseadventure.com/media-company/ https://enjoy.thegreatecourseadventure.com/media-company/#respond Fri, 09 Mar 2018 21:47:24 +0000 https://enjoy.thegreatecourseadventure.com/?p=2573 We are currently producing our newest course called, “Green Screen Magic.”

The course brings you into a world where you are a Magician’s apprentice, learning to create eLearning illusions through the magical powers of the green screen.

As we’ve been working on this course for the last 4 or 5 weeks, I feel like we are running a mini Universal Studios out of my two car garage (man cave studio). It’s been the most fun I’ve had in so long.

One of the realizations I had as we’ve been working on this course is that, “We are a media company.”

Not just eCourse Adventures, but YOU.

You are running a media company.

Most of us forget this though… or resist it.

We tell ourselves that we are a coach, a healer, an entrepreneur or some other label. We resist learning to be great media makers and storytellers, thinking that we’ll get discovered on our good looks or “the power of our work.”

But that’s just not true (for most of you reading this).

You need to become the brilliant, creative, multi-talented artist you probably always said you’d never be.

This day and age, you can’t afford not to be creative. You have to be.

There are billions of websites on the internet right now. You need to discover your unique gifts and express the shit out of them… via MEDIA!

Here is a clip from a recent coaching session that answers, “are you an eCourse Creator or Media Company?”

*This short snippet is from one of our Great eCourse Adventure coaching sessions that we do every Monday. Coaching is included in the $35/month trail pass fee because everybody needs access to a coach. Start your free trial today.

NOTE: I was traveling and had to record this in a cafe, so excuse the background sounds. Mmm, coffee!

What Would the World Look Like if your Work Went Viral? What Would Change? https://enjoy.thegreatecourseadventure.com/you-gone-viral/ https://enjoy.thegreatecourseadventure.com/you-gone-viral/#respond Fri, 23 Feb 2018 18:19:51 +0000 https://enjoy.thegreatecourseadventure.com/?p=2541 The first video I ever posted on Youtube went viral.

It was called the Gratitude Dance (watch it at the bottom of this post).

It was just a silly dance with some fun music, where we tried to get people to focus more on the things they were grateful for and less on the things that are wrong with the world.

The viral video led to a year and half of speaking around North America at events (mostly with youth) and to hundreds or thousands of people uploading their own versions of the dance to Youtube.

For a short blip, our video and message spread like wildfire, uplifting and inspiring an attitude of gratitude amongst hundreds of thousands of people. Probably millions of people if you count all of the events we spoke at and additional Gratitude Dance videos that were uploaded.

At the time, our intention was not to create a viral video. We didn’t even know what that was. We just wanted to share a message that felt important to us.

So often in the worlds of online learning and marketing, WE, the teachers, transformation facilitators and media makers lose our way.

We over focus on funnels, conversions, automations, tools, technology and to-do lists…

We forget about the true reasons for why we even got into the work we are now doing in the world.

We make it about generating more money, more time and hopefully….. more impact.

We lose site of our roots and our core mission; The thing that motivates us to wake up in the morning and focus on the next task.

I have lost site many many times over the years.

How do I know when I lose site?

I begin to doubt myself, question why I’m doing things, I resist taking action and the work begins to feel like WORK.

However, when I am clear, inspired and in alignment with my core mission, things flow and the work becomes effortless, or at the very least, exciting.

Last weekend I had an opportunity to do a deep check in with myself.

The video below walks you through the questions I contemplated and offers you some questions to write in your journal about.

Download and Listen to the Audio Version:

Journaling Questions:

1. What is the greatest possible impact the work you are doing could have in the world? Write your biggest vision out.

2. Imagine your work went viral on the internet and it became a new kind of culture where there are masses of people who believe what you believe, stand behind your message and are advocates for the work you do. What would the world look like if your work/message went viral? What would change?

3. What is the role you play in people’s lives when they come to work with you? What are the qualities? What is the primary purpose you serve in those relationships? Where do people usually move on from working with you?

4. Imagine you were one of the top 10 most sought after experts or teachers for your particular topic or industry and your viewpoints and processes became adopted by the mainstream. Now imagine you had a membership site where you could curate the information you share and grow a community. How much revenue do you imagine is possible if this were your reality?

5. If you were making that much money, what are THREE “greater good projects” you would invest it into? Write more if you have more you want to contribute to.

Here is the Gratitude Dance video that went viral.

Turn your eCourse into a Hero’s Journey {workshop with Jon Block} https://enjoy.thegreatecourseadventure.com/hero-journey/ https://enjoy.thegreatecourseadventure.com/hero-journey/#respond Thu, 08 Feb 2018 00:05:31 +0000 https://enjoy.thegreatecourseadventure.com/?p=2497 Imagine making the kinds of courses that move your students into action, lead them to transformation and leave the kind of lasting impression in their hearts that some of your favourite movies or books have…

Humans love a good story.

That’s why we love the Star Wars movies, Avatar and Shrek trilogy…

So what do all these movies have in common that make them so successful and captivating to the audience?

They all apply Joseph Campbell’s, Hero‘s Journey” formula.

Well what if you could apply the Hero‘s Journey to your eCourses to make them more engaging, exciting and transformational for your students?

You can! In the webinar workshop below, Jon Block breaks down the Hero’s Journey formula and shows you how to apply it directly to your eCourse and student learning journey.

Download the Audio Version:

Workshop Quick Notes:

1. Status Quo:

  • Relate deeply to the student.
  • Have a clear goal in mind.
  • Make it interesting, yet specific.

2. Wake-up Call:

  • Old life left behind, new life moving into
  • The first big win win or breakthrough.

3. Pursuit and Conflict:

4. Climax and Resolution

  • How is life different?
  • What is the grand finale?
  • How do they know when there is completion?

“Your audience relates more to the inner feelings than the outer circumstances.”
– Jon Block, SpeakerVenture.com

What were your top takeaways from this workshop? How can you turn your own eCourses into a Hero’s Journey using Jon’s formula? Do you have any questions? Share down below!

Unique and Creative Strategies for Building Glorious Affiliate Alliances (Webinar Workshop) https://enjoy.thegreatecourseadventure.com/strategic-alliance-strategies/ https://enjoy.thegreatecourseadventure.com/strategic-alliance-strategies/#respond Fri, 19 Jan 2018 03:31:22 +0000 https://enjoy.thegreatecourseadventure.com/?p=2460 After deleting my social media accounts at the beginning of this year, I have put myself in the position where I must depend on real life human relationships to grow my businesses.

This has led me to create a brand new Strategic Alliance Strategy for all affiliate partnerships for both, The Great eCourse Adventure, as well as for my meditation business.

In the 30-minute webinar workshop below I cover a lot of ground, including:

  • Our affiliate pitch deck for both my businesses and other creative ideas for reaching out to new partners.
  • Our partnership strategy to grow our membership from 300 – 2000+ Trail Pass holders this year.
  • Affiliate software we’re currently using and have used in the past.
  • The role of our affiliate partnership manager.
  • Why we don’t do the 50/50 split with affiliate partners for the GEA and what you should give affiliates.
  • The premium eCourse business model vs. a Community-driven business model.
  • and a bunch of other creative inspiration for your body, mind and soulful business.

Note: The coaching call itself was about 90-minutes long, but I cut it down to some of the bite-sized pieces that I thought would be most delicious for all of you.

Why I deleted my Facebook Account https://enjoy.thegreatecourseadventure.com/deleted-facebook/ https://enjoy.thegreatecourseadventure.com/deleted-facebook/#comments Fri, 05 Jan 2018 01:20:33 +0000 https://enjoy.thegreatecourseadventure.com/?p=2431 After 3-years of wanting to walk away from Facebook, I finally did it on January 1st.

I was tired of my addictive behaviours.

I was tired of all the distraction from my purpose and creative potential.

I was tired of artificial relationships that lacked in depth and human connection.

So I quit.

The reason I held onto it for so long, was because I feared losing contact with friends and family.

But honestly, if I lose contact with them because I left Facebook, then we probably never really had anything anyway.

I also feared what would happen to my businesses if I left. Would I fail? Would I lose clients and income?

But when I really thought about it, all of my success has come from cultivating real relationships with real people…

NOT from spouting my every waking thought into a meme on my Facebook wall.

Considering the tremendous amount of time I have given to social media in the last decade, I have received very little return on investment in the form of money or meaningful friendships.

Not to mention, I will never ever get those hours back. EVER!

When coaching a group at the end of last year, I asked everybody to write down how many hours per year they think they spent on social media in 2017. Some of them shared with honesty (and regret) that altogether, they spent between 750-1500 hours using Facebook and other time-sucking sites like it.

Imagine what YOU could do with all of that time if you were to channel it into your creativity and purpose…

Gone are the days of scrolling the wall mindlessly.

No longer will I check my notifications to see if anybody “likes me”.

Never again will I be send my friends messages while pooping.

Nuh-uh. Not me anymore.

I am here to express my creative potential and Facebook was an enormous energy leak for me.

I feel liberated and exhilarated at the newfound mental freedom and clarity I now have.

Now that my profile is deleted, I find myself drawn to pick up real books, hang out with real friends or to just simply sit and stare out the window. It’s absolutely glorious!

So my question to you, how is your Social Media relationship serving you, your real relationships and your mission in life?

Is it filling your cup or taking your eye off the reason you’re here on Planet Earth?

How many hours are you spending on social media? Is it worth it?

What else could you do with that time?

If social media isn’t your thing, what time-wasters could you let go of this year?

What could you do instead?

Share your thoughts or reflections in the comments section below.
